Re: that nomadic life mentioned when I introduced myself.
Roughly, the journey’s gone something like this:
0-.5 yrs: South Africa (Jo’burg)
.5-7 yrs: Israel (Kibbutz Gesher Haziv, Ra’anana)
7-9.5 yrs: Istanbul, Turkey
9.5-12 yrs: Milan, Italy
12-18 yrs: Westchester (yawn), NY
18-22 yrs: St. Louis, MO (WashU)
22-23.5 yrs: Florence, Italy
23.5-26 yrs: London, UK (minus 5 weeks in San Francisco and 5 months in Hyderabad, India)
26-?? yrs: Greenpoint, Brooklyn
My brother recently told me there’s a saying in Hebrew: Meshane Makom, Meshane Mazal, which translates “Change of Place, Change of Luck.” Whether it’s a change for the better is not specified, but that’s the implication (I believe), and seeing as I’ve been trading up all my life, Lady Luck and I ought to be tiiight.
You should include, I think, Giva’at Brenner – we were there for a few months
wow.
I made it to isreal and back several times and one trip to Europe for a month (in freezing febraury). the world to me (and my freinds) seems like you live in one place and go place on a trip then come back home which in my case is NYC.
There should be some sort of plan for people moving around like relocating for a job or something. If you have nothing better to do is it a good idea to wander around the country. Anyone wanna go on a road trip?
